Santa Fe Fashion

Santa Fe Fashion

Turquoise silver jewelry, denim jackets and the serape and concho belts with the well known broom skirts.  I have an absolute love for anything Ralph Lauren so when I decided to write about Santa Fe style fashion, his style and the memorable 80’s reflections came to mind.

It’s very hard to study fashion without also looking at the landscape, interiors and artisans.  Even texture in fashion and pattern, color and lines come from pulling from the natural and man made landscape around a region.

In Fort Worth, TX January and the first of February are stock show and rodeo season so everyone pulls out their cowboy boots and hats and turquoise jewelry to put on display.  What most people don’t know about Texans is we like to gather eclectic styles from territories so as not to be a walking cliche.  How appropriate than to study Santa Fe and its rustic and yet refined style so reflective of the history and art of the southwest.

Taking the lines of the mountain ranges and mirroring them into woven artisan rugs and blankets then applying that same technique to handbags and car coats is creative.  Why not always look at what God has originally designed and incorporate it in new and fresh ways.  To consider the source and God’s genius creative mastermind is to admire the artist and its source of beauty.

So reflecting upon the nature of Santa Fe, here are a few pieces I admire and consider updated approaches to the southwest in a fashionable modern way.
