Spain, Greece, Nantucket are all some of my favorite places to visit. I enjoy discovering quaint rentals, new homes for sale or a great new restaurant. All of these places create experiences that are forever remembered and enjoyed and I gain so much knowledge by visiting and researching places of style. I like to walk into a room or place and consider why it makes me feel a particular way and study the colors, the textures and the atmosphere.
Good design will take from personal experiences and reinterpret feelings in a way that expresses personality and preferences that can be lived out everyday. Keep all the function and necessary principles in a design but if it’s void of personality and a wow factor then it just functions as it’s supposed to. I want to walk into a room and be completely won over and wrapped up in a new experience.
I definitely gain knowledge from a well written book on the history of design or from studying the philosophies and designs of other great designers. I am constantly researching and watching what’s going on around me in this field and in all fields of creative designers to see new great ideas and ways to incorporate the world God made around us into homes that are livable and loved.
